Tokyo, Japan’s Prime Minister’s Office has issued an emergency alert in view of the missile fired by North Korea. Giving information about the alert in a tweet, Japan’s PMO said that this alert is being issued keeping in mind the suspected ballistic missile launched by North Korea. In this regard, the government has also directed the security agencies to immediately collect the inputs and provide prompt and adequate information to the public. Along with this, in view of the possibility of attack, it has also been asked to ensure the security of aircraft, ships and other properties.

According to the J-Alert Emergency Broadcasting System, residents of Miyagi, Yamagata and Niigata prefectures in northern Japan were warned to take shelter indoors on Thursday. This warning was given in view of a ballistic missile launched by North Korea that came off the coast of Japan. However, Japanese Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada said that none of the missiles had passed through Japanese airspace.

He said the first missile flew at an altitude of about 2,000 km and a range of 750 km. Such a flight pattern is called “lofted trajectory”, in which the missile is fired high into space to avoid flying over neighboring countries. Speaking to reporters a few minutes later, Prime Minister Fumio Kishida said, “North Korea’s repeated missile launches show its indignation and cannot be forgiven.”

About half an hour after the launch was first reported, Japan’s Coast Guard said the missile had fallen into the Pacific Ocean. Yonhap news agency reported that the first missile had stage separation, indicating that it may be a long-range intercontinental ballistic missile (ICBM).
