Ukraine accuses Russian military of destroying bridges and digging roads

Kyiv, Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has ordered the withdrawal of his troops from behind the Dnipro River. Russia’s news agency Tass quoted the defense minister as saying that the order was given to ensure the safe transfer of personnel, weapons and hardware. Russia fears that the Kyiv regime may soon cause flooding in the Dnipro River region. It is also feared that he may submerge the surrounding area by launching a more powerful rocket attack on the Kakhovka Dam.

Ukraine reacted cautiously to Russia’s announcement, saying that some Russian forces are still in Kherson and that additional Russian manpower is being sent to the region. “They are going out, but not as much as it is in a full pullout or regrouping,” Oleksey Erestovich, an adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky, said in a video posted online on Wednesday night. Erestovich further said that the Russian army is digging roads along with destroying bridges.

Russia is progressing slowly
Oleksiy Erestovich told that at the moment, he does not know their intentions – will they try to capture the city of Kherson? He further said that they are moving very slowly. The city of Kherson was the only regional capital captured by Russia after the invasion in February, and has been the center of a Ukrainian counter-offensive. One of the main reasons for the ongoing fighting over this area is that Kherson is also one of the four provinces annexed by Russia to its country.
