Ukraine’s SBU security service said on Wednesday that a prostitution ring run by Immigration Officials has been broken. The SBU security service said it was part of a campaign to crush corrupt practices and meet Western standards of eliminating corruption.

According to Reuters, the SBU said the gang was led by officers from the Migration Department of the National Police, which is generally responsible for protecting the interests of displaced people. Images shared on social media include images of uniformed officers raiding a building and herding several men into a room, as well as a large amount of cash and pictures of young women sitting on a sofa in an apartment.

The SBU has said in its statement that senior officers who busted the gang have exposed a widespread ‘protection’ for prostitution in Kyiv and other areas. The monthly income of this gang has been estimated at around 1.3 million US dollars. This gang used to take advantage of women in the age group of 18-30 years. These women were sent to customers in Ukraine and abroad. For this, customers were charged from 20 to 270 dollars.

In a video address at night, President Volodymyr Zelensky thanked the security services for taking prompt action on these shameful developments. Let us tell you that on February 20 this year, it will be a full year since the Russia-Ukraine war started. Russia’s invasion has forced more than seven million people to leave Ukraine, according to United Nations figures. However, about half later returned home.
