Russia’s fierce attack on Ukraine, fired more than 120 missiles; Kyiv shot down about 16 rockets

Kyiv. Several regions of Ukraine, including the capital Kyiv, faced Russia’s missile attack on Thursday, the latest in a series of attacks on national infrastructure. In many areas of the country, warning sirens started ringing in the early hours of Thursday. Mikhailo Podolyak, an adviser to Ukraine’s President Volodymyr Zelensky, said that Russia has attacked with more than 120 missiles.

The regional administration in Kyiv said an air defense system had been activated to defend against the ongoing missile attack. Explosions were heard in Kyiv. Kharkiv Mayor Ihor Terekhov said several explosions had rocked Ukraine’s second largest city. Explosions were also heard in the city of Lviv, bordering Poland. This information was given by the mayor of the place, Andrey Sodovi.

Ukraine shot down 5 missiles over the Black Sea
Ukrainian officials in different areas said 16 Russian missiles were shot down with the help of the air defense system. The governor of Ukraine’s southern Mykolaiv province, Vitaly Kim, said five missiles were shot down over the Black Sea. A command of the Ukrainian army said two missiles were shot down in the Sumy region.

There is currently no information about casualties
Kyiv’s district administration said two private buildings there in Darnitsky were damaged by Russian missile strikes. An industrial institute and a playground have also been damaged in the area on the other side of the Dnieper river. There is no immediate information about casualties.

Russia has been carrying out such attacks since October
Thursday’s attack is the latest in a string of Russian attacks on key Ukrainian installations. Moscow has been carrying out such attacks every week since October. Authorities in the Dnipro, Odesa and Kryvyi Rih regions said they had cut power to minimize damage to critical infrastructure.
