Russia fires missiles at Ukraine’s capital Kyiv, appeals to people to ‘stay in seltzers’

Kyiv. A series of explosions were heard on Saturday morning in Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. After this, air raid sirens started ringing in Kyiv. It is reported that many important infrastructures have been damaged in the Russian missile attack.

Kirylo Tymoshenko, deputy head of Ukraine’s presidential office, said in a telegram that the missile attack hit vital infrastructure in the capital. At the same time, the mayor of Kyiv, Vitali Klitschko, said, “The sound of explosions was heard in the Niprovsky district located on the left bank of Kyiv.”

Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko urged people in the Dniprovsky district to ‘stay in seltzers’. Klitschko said fragments of a rocket fell in the Golosievsky district, but there were no casualties.

Earlier, Russia’s Defense Ministry claimed on Friday that the Russian army has captured the eastern city of Soledar, a salt mine of Ukraine. The capture of the city of Soledar was described as a ‘rare victory’ for Russia.

However, Ukrainian officials denied the Russian claim to have captured Soledar, which falls under the Donetsk province in eastern Ukraine, and said fighting was still ongoing. Donetsk is one of four regions Moscow annexed to Russia in September.
