28 people have died since September this year

Kampala. Ugandan authorities have registered 11 more Ebola cases in the country’s capital, Kampala. Nine more people were found infected with the Ebola virus on Sunday in the Kampala metropolitan area. Whereas, two other people were found infected on Friday. Health Minister Jane Ruth Aceng gave this information on Monday.

A top World Health Organization official in Africa said last week that the Ebola outbreak in Uganda is “accelerating,” citing a challenging situation for health workers. There are 75 confirmed cases of Ebola, including 28 deaths, 19 under treatment.

The official numbers do not include those who live about 150 km west of Kampala. This farming community had died before the outbreak was confirmed. It is believed that this death was also caused by Ebola. There is no proven vaccine for the Sudanese variant of Ebola that is spreading in Uganda. According to the Africa Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Ugandan authorities had confirmed the infection in more than 1,800 people who had come in contact with a person infected with the Ebola virus as of Thursday. Out of these, 747 under-treatment patients have completed the period of 21 days.
