Bhutan’s Prince Jigme Wangchuck: Prince Jigme Wangchuck of Bhutan has become the first digital citizen of the country. Wangchuk is only 7 years old. Prince Jigme Namgyel Wangchuck is the son of King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck and Queen Jetsun Pema of Bhutan. In 2017, Prince Jigme along with the king also came to India to meet the Prime Minister of India. Then many cute pictures of Prince went viral. Explain that India is collaborating with Bhutan on various technology initiatives. Bhutan Live reported that under Bhutan’s flagship program ‘Digital Drukul’, an optical fiber backbone has been provided at the village level in all 20 districts of Bhutan. According to the Indian Embassy in Bhutan, the government will provide concessional rate of return facility to reduce the cost of operating the gateway. This new initiative is part of the expansion of India-Bhutan digital cooperation. (All photos: social media)
