Japanese space agency destroys rocket for fear of falling to the ground

Tokyo, Japan’s space agency JAXA (JAXA) has sent a message of self-destruction after a rocket launch failed on Wednesday. According to a report by the news agency AFP, JAXA sent a self-destruct message to its Epsilon rocket after a failed launch, after which Epsilon itself would be destroyed. The unmanned rocket, designed for a three-stage launch, was carrying several satellites into orbit on its sixth space mission, the space agency said.

Destroyed for fear of falling on the ground
A JAXA official told the TBS television network in an interview that the rocket could not continue a safe flight due to some fault. The space agency fears that the Epsilon rocket may pose a danger if it falls to the ground, due to which scientists have sent a message to destroy the rocket to avoid an accident. The official said that not much information is available about the cause of the problem yet.

First failed rocket launch after 20 years
Public broadcaster NHK and other media outlets claimed it was Japan’s first unsuccessful rocket launch since 2003. The JAXA livestream was suddenly interrupted shortly after launch from the Uchinoura Space Center in the southern Kagoshima region, prompting an assessment of the problem with the rocket, reports NHK. Let us tell you that the solid fuel Epsilon rocket has been in service in Japan since 2013.
