Israel-Lebanon Agreement: ‘Historic Agreement’ between Lebanon-Israel after 74 years, know its meaning

Jerusalem. Israel’s Prime Minister Yair Lapid said on Tuesday that his country has reached a “historic agreement” with neighboring Lebanon over a shared maritime border.

America played the role of mediator in the talks for this. Prime Minister Lapid described the agreement as a “historic achievement”. He said the agreement would “strengthen Israel’s security, greatly benefit Israel’s economy and ensure stability in our northern border.”

Lebanon and Israel have been in dispute over the maritime boundary since Israel came into existence in 1948. Both countries claim an area of ​​about 860 square kilometers (330 sq mi) of the Mediterranean Sea.
