Copenhagen. Along with the world, Europe has also suffered a lot due to climate change this year. Now the European Environment Agency (EEA) has warned about the heatwave. The agency has said that if nothing is done, the heatwave could kill 90 thousand Europeans every year by the end of the century. The Environment Agency said that 90,000 Europeans could die annually from extreme heat, given the scenario of 3°C global warming, by 2100 if favorable measures are not found.
According to a report by news agency AFP, countries have pledged to keep global warming at 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels. This is a goal that is difficult for the world to achieve due to current emissions trends. But if this is achieved, with 1.5°C of global warming, it could reduce 30,000 deaths annually.
The Environment Agency said, citing insurance data, that ‘over 1,29,000 Europeans died from extreme heat between 1980 and 2020. But more frequent warming, rising population and increasing urbanization associated with climate change has raised the possibility of this figure increasing in the coming years. especially in the south of the continent. At the same time, the World Health Organization (WHO) said on Monday that at least 15,000 people have died in Europe so far this year due to hot weather.

Beyond the threat of heat, the Environment Agency said climate change could increase the risk of infectious diseases such as malaria and mosquito-bite dengue in Europe.
