COVID-19 Alert: XBB.1.5 is the most dangerous covid variant ever, may soon bring havoc in Europe!

Stockholm. The subvariant XBB.1.5 of Kovid-19 Omicron is the fastest spreading variant among all the variants of this virus found so far. More than a quarter of corona virus patients in America have been found infected with this subvariant and within a few months it could become the most spread strain in Europe. The European Union’s Disease Agency has said this on Friday.

The European Center for Disease Prevention and Control (ECDC) said that mathematical modeling indicates that this subvariant, which is the most transmissible to date, could become the dominant variant in the European Union after one to two months.

The agency said the risk associated with this variant for the general population was estimated to be low. However, ‘there is a moderate to high level of risk for the elderly and unvaccinated people with weak immunity.’

According to ECDC, ‘XBB for less than 2.5 percent of cases of Kovid-19 infection in the last weeks of the year 2022 in the European Union. 1.5 subvariant was found responsible, but more than 27 percent of corona patients in the United States have been found infected with this highly infectious variant.

Let us inform that patients of XBB.1.5 subvariant have been found in 38 countries across the world. The World Health Organization said in a rapid risk assessment on Wednesday that 82 percent of the total patients infected with the XBB.1.5 subvariant are in the United States, 8 percent in the United Kingdom and 2 percent in Denmark.

According to virologists, this new subvariant is very similar to its predecessor, XBB.1, but has an additional mutation in its spike protein – which further increases its infectivity.
