According to a CNN report, selling CBD in Hong Kong is now a crime. It has been declared a ‘dangerous drug’ at the same level as heroin and fentanyl. CBD is a chemical found in hemp and marijuana plants. It is non-psychoactive, which means it will not make you feel like a dangerous drug. It is often used to reduce stress and anxiety. Also, many people use it to remove swelling.

Its global popularity has increased tremendously in recent years. Many brands have also included it in shampoos, beverages and body oils. It has also been used in the treatment of bears and dogs. But last June, a draft law banning CBD was introduced by Hong Kong lawmakers and became effective on February 1. Under the new law, a provision has been made for seven years in prison and a fine of 1 million Hong Kong dollars (Rs 1,04,31,875) for possessing and consuming CBD. Under the new law, a provision has been made for life imprisonment in the manufacture, import or export of CBD. Even tourists have been included in this law. The government has warned people not to buy it or bring it to Hong Kong.
