Moscow. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov alleged on Thursday that Western countries were directly involved in the Ukraine conflict, supplying Kyiv with weapons and training its troops. Lavrov also said that Russia’s attack on Ukraine’s energy centers and other vital infrastructure has left millions of people without electricity, heaters and water. He said that these attacks were to weaken the army of Ukraine and to stop the ships loaded with Western weapons.
Lavrov said in an online press conference, ‘You should not say that America and NATO are not participating in this war, you are directly participating in it.’ He said, ‘Not only supplying weapons but also training their soldiers. You are training their soldiers on your land, they are being trained on the land of Britain, Germany, Italy and other countries.
The Russian foreign minister said the Russian missile attacks were intended to “destroy energy sources to prevent your weapons from reaching Ukraine that are being sent to kill Russians.” The European Union (EU) has proposed a UN-backed special court to be set up in Ukraine to investigate possible war crimes committed by Russia and to use Russia’s frozen assets to rebuild the war-torn country.
