Mexico City. At least one young woman was killed and 57 people were injured when two subway trains collided in Mexico City early Saturday. Mexico City Mayor Claudia Sheinbaum said about the incident on her Twitter account that the accident happened on line 3 of the capital’s metro system. He did not share the cause of the accident and said that 2 metro trains collided between Joe Potro and La Raza stations. Sheinbaum said that a woman was killed and 57 people were injured in the accident, out of which 7 were taken to hospitals.

It was said in the news that the driver of one of the 4 people trapped in the debris for some time was also included, whose condition is said to be critical. Dozens of police and soldiers gathered at nearby subway stations for relief and rescue work, while ambulances and rescue teams arrived to treat the injured. Omar Garcia, the city’s security chief, told local media about the accident on Saturday morning and later shared an updated list of the injured. Garcia had earlier said that four other people trapped in a wagon on Line 3 have been rescued and are in good health.

Condoling the metro accident, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador said on his Twitter account that the federal government had helped city authorities deal with the accident.
